Bijay’s Story
From Chaos to Connections
At just 11 years old, Bijay’s life was filled with hardship and uncertainty. With the loss of his mother and the absence of his father, he found himself surviving on the streets of Pokhara, resorting to begging, scrap recycling, and even petty crime to satisfy his hunger. Trapped in a cycle of pain and desperation, he became involved with a street gang and turned to sniffing glue as a means of escape.
When Kidasha’s outreach workers first approached Bijay, he was skeptical. However, their gentle and caring approach, along with consistent check-ins, slowly earned his trust. Eventually, he decided to join the Street Project, although his journey was not without its challenges. Bijay struggled and ran away from the street center multiple times, falling back into old habits.

Despite the setbacks, Bijay gradually found stability and began attending school. However, being surrounded by other children who had families to return to on weekends and holidays took an emotional toll on him. He felt a profound sense of loneliness and began to struggle once again.
Kidasha made relentless efforts to locate Bijay’s family, and eventually, his uncle, aunt, and cousins were found. They became his legal guardians, offering him a safe and loving home.
Bijay now lives with them and attends school regularly, supported by Kidasha, which covers his school expenses and provides a stipend for food.
Today, at the age of 14, Bijay’s perspective on life has transformed. With the continued support of Kidasha, he feels a renewed sense of optimism for his future. Motivated to make the most of his educational opportunities, Bijay actively participates in school, determined to catch up academically and build a better future for himself.
Bijay’s journey from chaos to connections exemplifies the transformative power of intervention and support. Through Kidasha’s unwavering dedication and Bijay’s resilience, he has found a path out of despair and into a brighter, more promising future.
