What is Giving Tuesday?
Giving Tuesday is an annual international campaign that takes place on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving and runs in 70 different countries around the world. This year it will be on 27th November.
Created as a counter-balance to the heavy retail push around Black Friday and Cyber Monday, Giving Tuesday is responsible for raising millions of pounds for charity in the UK each year. It’s a day where people donate, fundraise and raise awareness for their favourite charities to help in their vital work.
Is Kidasha taking part?
Yes! Kidasha is registered with Giving Tuesday and is proud to be involved with this global campaign.
How can I help?
It’s great that you want to support Kidasha this Giving Tuesday and it will make a big difference to our work! Here are our top five ways you can get involved on the 27th November.
1. Donation substitution
Do you get a coffee on the way into the office or normally buy your lunch out? How about skipping a regular expense today and donating the money you save to Kidasha.
The £5 you can save by taking lunch from home is enough to give a child on the streets of Nepal shelter and food for a day.
2. Become a monthly giver
If you normally give one-off donations, how about starting monthly giving today? This Giving Tuesday is the perfect time to try a new way of giving, as regular donations enable us to make longer term commitments to our projects.
Just £5 a month (that’s 16p a day) will fund parent support groups for families living in poverty.
3. Sign up for a Kidasha challenge
Feeling you want to do something a little different? Give in a different way by signing up to a special Kidasha challenge – this year we’re taking on the Wye 100 challenge and organising a special fundraising trek in the Himalayas. Find out more here.
4. Be our friend on social media
Get the conversation going online. Follow us on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram and tag us in your tweets and posts. We want more and more people to discover how they can help those in Nepal. Like, comment and share!
5. Make a one-off donation
We’d love you to make a donation to Kidasha in honour of Giving Tuesday today. After Black Friday and Cyber Monday, why not use your spending power in another way too?
